im aware that bill russell would have 11 finals mvps! but he also played with a team full of hall of famers.if where debating on who the greatest winner in nba history is there’s no argument here its bill russell..hell it may forever be bill russell. but just because he was the greatest winner it doesnt make him the greatest player!

  2. youz1uglybish says:

(cont) after jordan won his 5th mvp russell handed him the award and said that he was the greatest ever..but he also said his 60′s celtics would have beaten the 80′s celtics, showtime lakers, and the 90′s bulls! as an individual player bill russell knows he’s not on jordans level..but as a winner he is in a class of his own!

  3. youz1uglybish says:

lol kobe bryant also said that the 2012 olympic team could beat the dream team! thats what larry bird is supposed to say and you know what there a possibility that bird could be right! larry bird knows that he is out gunned as an individual jordan by far is a better player but jordan doesnt have kevin mchale, robert parish, danny ainge, dennis johnson on his team.thats not a contradiction its reality you can be the best player on the court and your team can still lose!

  4. Owunthrizzel says:

Winning on its own does not make you the best but neither does scoring. That’s my point. You put so much weight in scoring that it makes little sense. If that’s the point, then Kobe’s 81 point game is better than any game MJ ever played. That logic makes no sense. There’s more to the game than points. It’s not just winning either, but winning should count more. Winning is the objective, not scoring for scoring’s sake.

  5. Owunthrizzel says:

…You missed my point of bringing up what Bird said. I brought it up to show that you CAN’T simply accept what players say as fact because they say all sorts of things that are based more on their ego than reality. So using a player’s quote as a reference means nothing. In 93, MJ said that he was glad the Rockets wouldn’t make it to the finals because he thought his Bulls would lose. Does that guarantee that the Bulls would’ve lost to the Rocketss in a finals matchup? No. It’s just talk.

  6. Owunthrizzel says:

So MJ is constantly billed as such a big time clutch superstar, but he can’t overcome the odds against the Showtime Lakers or Celtics? lol Where’s that hype when you need it? And let’s not act like MJ played with a bunch of scrubs. His late 90s team had 3 HOFers. That’s not a disadvantage. Truth is that MJ is human, but very few people want to admit that. Given your last statement, you don’t seem to be as delirious, but scoring isn’t everything.

  7. youz1uglybish says:

well michael jordans first championship was against the showtime lakers with he exception of kareem abdul jabbar who was a 100 years old by 1991 anyway! i completley understand and agree with you he was human no 1 player can win a championship on there own as this is a team sport!

  8. youz1uglybish says:

lol i apologize if i came off as if scoring was the the only factor in basketball.my argument for jordan goes far beyond putting points on the board, michael jordan was a 2 way player you’d be hard pressed to find a guard who was a better defender than jordan.6 championships deep and its hard to question his leadership stats tell you he was a beast in just about every facet of the game.the same could be said for chamberlain his scoring grabbed so many headlines ppl forget how well rounded he was!

  9. youz1uglybish says:

now with the hardware you say russell was going to win 30 awards..lol ok! with out a doubt if those awards are going to be handed out he was going to share alot if not most of those awards with wilt chamberlain! the only awards that he would have gotten without debate are finals mvps! chamberlain completley outplayed russell night in and night out he grabbed more rebounds, had more assists, scored double the points..probably even blocked more shots! so DPOTY amongst other things would go to wilt

    fuckin novel in the comments

  11. chizzledMusclez says:

    Points 26,946 (21.8 ppg)
    Rebounds 13,747 (11.1 rpg)
    Blocks 3,830 (3.1 bpg)

  12. Owunthrizzel says:

You’re right about the awards but that doesn’t make my point invalid. That just shows that there were multiple dominant players that didn’t have access to the awards that were available later. If Wilt cleaned up on many of those awards that weren’t available during that era, that would close the gap in perception. Reality of it is that the evolution of marketing and 24hr media coverage blows athletes’ accolades out of proportion. It’s really impossible to know who the best player is.

  13. youz1uglybish says:

very well said i agree with that 100%..the best of anything is always an opinion and when it comes to basketball jordan is the best imo! but another way i look at it is this way..if there where a draft of nothing but hall of fame players and you had the number one pick who are you taking?? lol if were playing GM im taking jordan number 1 every single time! as a matter of fact i’d take magic johnson number 2 everytime as i beleive there the 2 best players of all time!

  14. thenintendogamer says:

Magic over Jordan in a draft? Are you crazy? Jordan’s obviously the best but if you’re picking a shooter over a point guard you know nothing about being a GM

  15. thenintendogamer says:

Hakeem Olajuwon is the best Center ever. End of story

  16. youz1uglybish says:

its jordan over magic in the draft! and your absolutley right i will take jordan over magic every day of the week. kobe bryant had 5 championships and he’s never had a great point guard on his team until now.the miami heat dont have a great point guard and they are poised to win next years finals as well.magic is a great player but to take him over jordan is a bit much!

  17. Pablo Pilar says:

LOL all the nba players in the past were so tall!

  18. BigDaddyG13 says:

hahaah these guys need to just watch the vid

  19. The420Northwest says:

He was just one of those players who was ment to ball.

  20. Abasketballgirl says:

I like Hakeem’s game because he played hard at both ends of the court. Defense and Offense!

  21. John Kim says:

true and I get what you’re saying cause the most important position on the basketball court is the point guard….but its not like you’re picking players based on their positions…you’re picking PLAYERS. Your idea is the same reason why the Blazers picked Bowie over Jordan in the draft because they needed a forward. Organizations don’t pick positions anymore…they pick talent and you can’t compare Jordan to Magic on that level

  22. Cassacify says:

    LMAO

  23. Cassacify says:

    bill russel

  24. uknwwtitis says:

not including rings.olajuwon is THE BEST CENTER to play the game
